Born in Wilsonville, Alabama in 1902. Graduated from Army Air Corps flight training at Brooks Field, Texas in 1926. Joined Pitcairn Aviation in 1927 as one of the country’s first airmail pilots. Flew original airmail route between New York and Atlanta and inaugurated airmail service between Atlanta and Jacksonville in 1928. Employed by Eastern Air Lines in 1928 as one of the company’s original pilots. Operation a flight school during World War II to train military transport pilots destined for service in China. Served as Chief Pilot for Easter Air Lines and retired in 1962 as Vice-President of Flight Operations after 34 years of service.
