ADMIRAL THOMAS H. MOORER
Born in Mount Willing, Alabama in 1912. Graduated Cloverdale High School, Montgomery. Played football three years at the United States Naval Academy. Commissioned Ensign in 1933. Completed Naval Aviation flight training in 1936. Was serving at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Through promotions, attained rank of Admiral in 1964. Named Chief of Naval Operations in 1967. Appointed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in 1970. After retirement from active duty in 1974, maintained an intensive interest in aviation. He served on numerous boards of major companies and institutions. His list of decorations and awards is almost endless. Admiral Moorer is truly an American hero.
