Military leader, air combat veteran of World War I and World War II. Born Moreland Georgia, December 26, 1897. Moved to Auburn, Alabama 1900. Entered flying service 1918. Performed early aerial mapping of Tennessee River Valley and Mobile Harbor area. Flew first airmail service in 1925 linking Montgomery and Mobile with New Orleans. Led a Medium Bomber Group in every Mediterranean campaign during World War II. Had a Transport Command in the Pacific. Received numerous awards and commendations for accomplishments during his distinguished military career. Retired a Brigadier General United States Air Force in 1953 after 36 years of active flying. Continued to contribute to the advancement of air power as special consultant to Military Science Department at Auburn University and United States Air Force Air University.
