Pioneer air show pilot and barnstormer. Born February 1, 1901 at Warrior, Alabama. His flying career began at Birmingham, Alabama in 1926. Member of the 106th Observation Squadron, Alabama National Guard at Roberts Field 1929-1931. One of the first men to operate an airplane for a law enforcement agency as a flying deputy in Dallas County beginning in 1931. Organized and piloted the first air ambulance service in Alabama in 1935. He conducted a fixed base operation in Birmingham from 1935-1939. In 1939, he moved to Muscle Shoals, Alabama where he served as Airport Manager, Base Operator, and conducted a Civilian Pilot Training Program. In 1941, he began a twenty-two year career as an inspector for the Civil Aeronautics Authority and Federal Aviation Administration, be Chief Inspector at several locations during that period. After retirement he continued to serve as a Designated Pilot Examiner until the age of 78.
